REVIEW: Dave Neven - Darkside E.P. out on Coldharbour recordings

A firm favorite among the Coldharbour family already thanks to his signature 'darklifting' take on trance, Los Angeles resident Dave Neven embarks on his biggest year yet in grand fashion, with a much anticipated three-track EP.

Debuted as one of the most memorable unknown pieces by Markus Schulz at the famed Transmission festival in Prague, Darkside has been pinpointed by many Global DJ Broadcast followers as an early favorite for 2017, continuing the footsteps of Dave's breakout piece Drifter.

Not to be outdone however, Resurgence is of a plucky yet driving nature, and Oubliette will attract those of a deeper varation, both until recently being kept under wraps. But assigned alongside Darkside. it's easy to hear why Dave Neven is regarded as one of the bright young things in the trance scene.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Dave Neven opens the proceedings for Coldharbour recordings for 2017 with the incredible Darkside E.P. Quality big room Coldharbour style progressive trance at its best that you simply can not afford to miss. The star track of the package is Darkside which follows the rules and conventions of the cold dark moody progressive trance sound that Coldharbour is well-recognised for. Superb dark but highly effective synthy hooks drive the track to its climax that is powerful and banging to the core. Resurgence is equally magnificent production with rolling basslines, driving pumping grooves, and fantastic breakdown with luscious themes and chill out vibe until the huge uplifting synths are explode out of proportion to give you endless goosebumps. The climax is euphoric and mainstage friendly but still with the dark moody Coldharbour twist in it.  Oubliette is the more darker moody  with grey colours in its palette but still very involving and evolving perfect for the start or middle part of any super strong dj set. Highly recommended EP for sure. #PureGold Love IT[/content]
