REVIEW: Gab Rhome - Ceremonie Des Adieux out on Anjunadeep

Hailing from Montreal via New York, Gab Rhome is part of a new wave of underground producers from North America, whose deft melodic house has won him support from Lee Burridge, Sasha, Guy Gerber and Henry Saiz, along with releases on their respective labels.

He returns to Anjunadeep following 2015’s ‘Drifting EP’ with another fine selection of underground house cuts. Title track ‘Ceremonie Des Adieux’ showcases Gab’s flair for mystic atmospheres and exotic instrumentation, with chord stabs rising and falling beneath intricate strings.

‘Cashmere’ is pure peak-time action, fusing chugging tech-house grooves with a quirky and instantly catchy riff, along with spacey vocal samples. ‘The Spice Trade’ is a mellow journey through Middle Eastern sounds and unorthodox samples. Rising French talent The Mekanism closes out the EP with his energetic take on The Spice Trade, twisting it into a club-ready roller.
